Paint peeling from walls
I have had a problem with paint peeling from all wall for years (large areas and small patches) . . I was told that I had used a cheap primer or the builder did not use any primer years ago. The problem is even in areas that I have scraped off the paint and gone down to the bare plaster board (PB)it still happens. Some times I was able to scrape off (paint) in 3-5 foot areas on the PB. In areas that I even had to fix the PB in the past it has happen again.I use to have hot air heat now for the last 5-7 years I have hot water base board heat. It has happen mostly in the front of the house that gets the most sun and usually is the warmest (living ,dinning, kitchen rm). It has happen to outside walls and inside walls. I have in the past even tried to use oil based primer before painting but that has not really solved the problem. Any ideas other that burning down house and starting all over.

Normally when interior paint peels it's due to a contaminant of the wall. You'd think peeling the paint down to the drywall would remove the contaminant
Do you know how old the house is? Did the oil primer help any?

House is about 38 years old. The oil base primer did not really help.It still has happen.I used oil base primer on all of the walls in the rooms. But as in the pass the peeling has happen in areas that I even did patch work with joint compound. Have to use joint compound were the paint stops, ridges and any dings I make scraping the paint off.Its really FUN.Used primer over any of those spot to.

I've run into peeling issues on older homes that don't have a vapor barrier BUT it was always the outside paint that peeled and the fact that you have walls along the interior also peeling, makes it even more strange/confusing. Even if your house had been originally painted with an oil base enamel on the walls [only likely in your bath rms] once it peeled down to raw drywall the issue would have been resolved. I think it was in the 80's when they started using recycled paper on drywall but the only issue that ever caused was bleeding .... and a coat of oil base primer always solved that problem.
Hopefully someone else will have more insight as to what is causing the peeling, I'm at a loss
