repair paint on the front door

My front door lock broke and I replaced a new one. Unfortunately the new lock is a little bit smaller so the area around the lock has different color than the rest of the door. see the picture attached.

how can I get the same color paint and repaint around the lock?

If I decide to repaint the whole door, both back and front, what's the correct procedure? do I need to sand, prime, paint etc? what material to buy?

Sorry if this question seems silly to you, I am not so handy but willing to learn Appreciated if you can guide me.

thank you.

Looks like someone did a pretty poopy job painting it the first time.
Is this door in direct sun?
#1, A door should never be painted a dark color if it's in direct sun.
If it was my door I'd remove it and use a paint stripper, then a paint scrapper to remove all that old paint.
Sand it smooth, prime and paint two coats on all sides, which includes the top and bottom.

This is the entry door and it is facing north, so it never has direct sun. If I repaint the whole door, the sidelites also need to be re-paint... seems lots of work to do.

If just paint the surface around the lock, how can I get the exact color from store?

thanks.

A little hard for me to tell from the pic but is it paint or stain?

If you have the same paint the door was painted with you could touch up around the lock but generally you are better off painting an entire section of the door - providing it hasn't faded. If the paint color/brand is unknown [unless you have the expertise to color match onsite with the right sheen] you are better off repainting the entire door including sidelites.
