Question

I'm color washing for the first time and really need some help. The problem seems to be with everything I do. I'm using 2 different colors of oil mixed with mineral spirits 2 to 1. Then I'm putting on the lighter color with a sea sponge
then the darker color the same way leaving some of the base coat still showing. Then taking a clean rag blending the colors together. 1, I'm not getting the cloud like effect that I want and 2, when I move to the next part of the wall you can see a dark line between the two parts. Am I mixing things wrong, putting too much paint on the wall, what? any help would be great, if someone could suggest maybe a video. Thanks

Repeteoz, You might try a blending brush to help with the cloud effects. These brushes are sorta high dollar but a very soft paint brush used just as the sponging starts to set up will work about as well. As for the lapping you will have to move about the entire wall in no kind of pattern. Avoid any kind of straight lines....Mike
