How to remove sharpie stain?

Help!

My son wrote with a sharpie magic marker on the doors of a base cabinet in the kitchen. The doors are made of solid wood with oil based stain.

Is there any hope of removing it? I tried mineral spirit, no luck.

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Saturate a rag with equal parts of lighter fluid and isopropyl(rubbing) alcohol.
The combination of a water based and oil based cleaner will dissolve the sharpie.

Naptha is generally the best solvent for permanent markers. Charcoal starting fluid contains it as well as one of the commercial removers but I can never recall which - Goof Off or Goo Gone, I believe.

Others have reported success going back over the area with a marker to re-wet the ink, which makes it easier to remove than when dry.
