Paint looks terrible
I am trying to paint my front door and trim. I used Kilz primer and Behr Premium Plus int/ext Hi gloss enamel. Using a decent quality brush and it looked terrible. Then I used a roller. It still looked terrible and the white seems to have whiter and not too white areas. Any ideas what my problem is?

"seem to have whiter and not too white areas" What's that suppost to mean?
I would have been using a 6" foam roller and a quality 2-1/2" brush for the detail areas.

Pics would really be helpful - http://www.doityourself.com/forum/el...your-post.html
Did you sand before priming? after priming? what were the weather conditions when you applied the coatings? was the hot sun shining down on the door? what did the door look like before you started? what color?

Thank folks. No I didn't like the brush strokes, that's why I used a roller. The door is, I think metal or fiberglass. No it was smooth as hell, the original surface, when I started so I didn't sand. A picture will not show anything because after my post, it dried better and looked better. Anyway, the guy next door is a professional painter and does high end residential work. Best I talk to him, as I should have done tonight. Again, thanks guys.

It is always a good idea to sand prior to and between coats. Besides making the substrate smooth it also promotes good adhesion. I suspect sanding and then applying another coat [possibly thinned a little] would be the fix. Lest us know what your neighbor says.
