It's been yrs since I've used any PPG coatings [no local store] but like most paint manufactures they sell both chea p and quality coatings. A lot depends on which coating is used.

Is he intending to use paint or deck stain?

I will use solid paint, thats what I have now. Going for a dark color. I think they have two kind of solid deck paint. One of them is sunproof.

I have a store like a mile away from me. My painter gets discount so he told me about it. But thats it, he wont tell me if its good or bad so I dont blame him later. lol

Once you find out the specific name of the coating you should be able to find more info on that coating.
