Blending Stain to Cover Bare Spots?
A painter suggested using Goof-Off to clean overpaint from our wicked-old stained baseboards. Unfortunately my teenager didn't stop when she found the product was also removing the stain, so I have four spots the size of a Kennedy half-dollar where most of the stain is gone. Does anyone have any suggestions to how these spots could be made less noticeable, other than restaining the baseboard (which would make it not match the other baseboards because their stains are a decade old)?
They don't have to be perfect. I'm looking more for less noticeable.
Thanks

You may be able to make the spots disappear or at least be less noticeable by wiping over those areas with new stain, usually one shade lighter works best. You'll probably need to apply new poly or varnish to the base board once you get it looking decent.

Thanks. After posting, I was at the hardware store and saw where they had Minwax Stain Markers. It seems they use the same theory in that one color marker covers several different stains, so I chose the one that was closest but a little lighter and that seems to have done the trick. Of course if you look closely... but it was good enough, for sure.
Thanks for the reply and hopefully our answer will help someone else.
