Painting over carpet glue
Hey folks,
Can you paint over carpet glue on concrete? We have gotten as much as the glue off as possible, and don't want to go through the more expensive options (LVT, tile, laminate), and would like to do something unique. Anyone have pictures of a finished product with paint over glue?
Thanks!

As far as I know there aren't any issues with painting over carpet adhesive other than whatever texture the adhesive leaves will still be present once it's painted. Where is this floor? Sometimes solvents will dissolve the adhesive but you'd want to have good ventilation. While it was commonplace years ago it's probably been 20-30 yrs since I painted a concrete floor. I often use a solid concrete stain on the rare occasions I'm asked to coat a concrete floor.

If using a 2 part epoxy garage floor type paint, I would be concerned if the glue was still pliable in anyway. Putting a cured top coat on an unstable base would surely lead to cracking.

Did you use a floor machine (buffer) with a sanding disc on the floor? Caveat not a floor man just someone who used one years ago to remove cut-back asphalt floor adhesive.)
