I would like to paint a pressure treated fence white.I finished building it in Oct. of 2000 so it has been exposed to the elements for 6 months. How soon until i can paint?Should I stain it or paint it.(can I stain it white)I was considering a white stain first, if i did not like the look I would paint it white. What type of paint or stain should I use. ie acrylic laytex, oil,? Should i use a white stain as a primer and then paint?......hanks for your help

BALKY, In that your fence has aged the most part of a year you could use most anything on it. What I would suggest is a solid body oil stain. One coat of this would show a little grain(not a bad thing) but would never scale or come off. Two coats of solid body stain will look painted but you will be free from the scraping in a few years as you think about repainting it. If you want to paint, prime with an exterior oil primer and topcoat of your choice...Mike
