clear finish on masonite 6 panel textured interior doors
what would you put on these doors? I replaced 6 hallway doors and the natural color was surprisingly close to the wall color, so I'm wondering why put the effort into pulling the door off and staining/sealing etc? but I want to protect it somewhat.
can i just rub on some paste wax to protect the doors?
since i didn't see a natural color for the minwax gel stain, maybe a natural brush-on stain? i guess i should check for discoloration first...
i really didn't want to do a poly seal on the doors...
i guess i'm just lazy, but wanted opinions.

Got a picture of these doors?
Only Masonite doors I've seen come primed white and need to be painted, there no way to stain them.

You don't actually stain masonite doors if that is the finish you want but rather apply a faux wood grain finish [done with paint]
I doubt wax would work but what it would do would be to complicate any future painting as the wax would need to be removed first! What is on the rest of the woodwork in the house? I had one builder that used masonite doors along with stained woodwork but the doors got painted the same color as the walls [with enamel]

just a standard box store Masonite Solid Core 6-Panel Slab Interior Door, textured wood grain. primed.
I guess I could do a wipe-on poly... after looking further, the co recommends paint but not stain.
