a question for a jeweler but i'll try here

I am looking for something to put(or paint) on the back of a gemstone to make it glow. Something that reflects light. I tried jewelry forums but no one seems to know of anything other than aluminum foil. Maybe someone on this board has an idea of what might work. If a gemstone has light coming through the back that will do it but this gemstone is up against a solid surface. Well, just thought I would try.

Could you polish the stone so it reflects light better?

There are extremely tiny LEDs. You can hide them behind almost anything. If you need a large number electronic component suppliers will be cheapest but for normal volumes they are available on Ebay. If you want a more easy to use format with wires already attached try searching model train supply websites where modelers use them to light their miniatures.
