I'm having trouble deciding on which paint for my den. I'm taking down the grasscloth wallpaper, priming with zinsser gardz, then painting. I've done this in the past, I used bennie moore regal. I see they have Advance, and natura. There is also Aura, a paint primer in one product.

Sometimes I wonder if I should just go to the big box stores. The bennie moore store has moved, it's much smaller. It seems to cater to ordering online and picking it up. I asked some test questions the last time I was in and they were not as helpful as when I did my last major painting project. My friends that use big box paint have as beautiful walls as my expensive paint walls.

That being said, I really don't want to move all this crap to paint again any time soon, so I want the best for my application. There is also a sherwin williams nearby so information on those products would be helpful as well.

I guess it boils down to which product would be most suitable. I'm confused by the choices.

 

Since the cost per gallon is generally a small part of the equation it usually makes sense to buy the best paint you can afford. I'm not all that familiar with big box paints but I have used the gambit of paints from the cheap stuff to some of the best. Better quality paints almost always cover better, often have less roller spray and may level out better. Not all cheap paints are very washable.

At SWP I'd consider their ProMar 200 bare minimum [their best contractor's grade] with their SuperPaint line or above being better. I don't use a lot of BM coatings but have always been happy with their mid line or better. ALL paint manufactures have bargain basement paint lines that aren't fit to be used IMO.

 

I've always been happy with Regal. FWIW, I won't use an all-in-one product, as I think that's just marketing hype.
