Sealing antique wood for outdoors

I found this antique wood window and I plan to use it in a treehouse. What product should I use to: A) seal the wood and, B) preserve the 'chipped paint' look?

No coating will preserve the old deteriorating finish. A waterbased exterior poly will help some.

What color to paint fill at baseboard & door and window trim gaps?

This was easy for me when the trim was white, I simply caulked or spackled the gaps between the trim and wall and painted it white. Now I've got brown oak baseboard, window and door trim, the walls are not white. After I fill all of these gaps..what color do I paint to make the fill the least noticeable? The walls are uneven, so I'd like to not draw attention to the fill. Do I paint the wall and fill the same color, or do I try to paint the fill a color that matches the baseboard?Read More

Sanding drywall after primer

I hear some people suggest lightly sanding the primed drywall to knock down any debris and remove raised grains, etc. for a smoother final finish. Some suggest doing it between the two top coats as well... It sounds like a good idea to me, but I'd like to hear people's opinion here on whether that's worth while. And if yes, what grit of sand paper would you use? (I'd be using a pole sander).Read More
