painting interior 6 panel metal door
I'm looking to paint 4 six panel metal doors throughout my home. I'm going to sand them, then prime them using an oil base paint.
I'm interested in what others have done to metal doors to make them look nicer.
One idea I have is one of the doors to look like a wood finish? What products have you used to get this?
I want to paint them already in place.
Thanks for the creative help!!!!!!!

then prime them using an oil base paint
As to your actual question, what are you trying to accomplish? Is it that you would like them to appear to be made of something other than metal?

What type of finish is currently on the doors? any rust?
Some manufactures state their warranty is void if oil base coatings are used. This is because the metal is so thin that it flexes. Latex paints are somewhat flexible while oil base coatings are not.
To give the doors a faux would finish you'd first apply a base coat and then a tinted glaze coat [or two] to replicate the wood grain. Not always an easy task!

I have looked into a Faux wood finish. Not sure if I want to try that approach sense you really want to have the door on it's side to paint it.
And you really want to be skilled to have it look ....good...

I'm not sure what other options there are; either paint it a color or faux paint wood grain [or whatever] on it. For many folks just cleaning the door up an applying a fresh coat of paint is enough.
