Filling and painting over little holes in wall
Hello. I've drilled several holes into the walls of my apartment that look like this:

How can I fill that and/or paint over it such that it doesn't look like there is any damage to the wall. Price is definitely an object. I need to be able to do this fast and cheap.
Also, as I don't tool often, I'll need reasonably specific directions.
Thanks so much!

How to insert pictures.
Depending on the size of the hole you'd either fill with spackling [sometimes caulking will work] or if they are bigger you'd use joint compound and tape. Depending on the size of the repair and how the wall was finished you might need to texture the repair prior to priming/painting.

Thanks. Toothpaste is a great idea, but I don't know if the holes are small enough.
Once spackled, I'm presuming you have to put primer over that. Is that true?

They used to sell a little tube of spackle with a putty knife edge attached. It would probably work fine for small holes. They also sell a small tub of spackle with a plastic puttty knife, but it's cheaper to buy them separate. If the wall surface is textured, you can help it blend by tapping it lightly with a damp sponge of a roughly similar texture. Very small holes won't need painting if they aren't right at eye level and glaring out. Do you have, or can you get a small amount of the exact same paint as is on there now? You could probably use a wide flat artists brush and just sort of tap paint on the dried patch. I've never primed very small holes and just a touch of paint makes them pretty much disappear unless you know right where to look. That's up to about a pencil size. You don't have anything up there as a reference, so it's hard to tell how big your's are.

Without the benefit of seeing the actual hole, I'd probably either use caulking or joint compound [spackling will also work], fill the hole and then take a wet/damp sponge and carefully remove all the excess filler around the hole so only the hole itself is filled.

All the holes are around this size. This one is the worst one because of the dark scratch near it. The others don't have that.

Thanks for the tips. The joint compound plugged the holes well. But the paint I put over them wasn't a perfect match. It's okay though. The holes or so small that the difference in color is not noticeable unless you are looking for it. I did was, however, $10 in the paint and brushes. But sometimes making mistakes is the only way you can learn.
