Need help investigating the brick texture
We moved into our house (custom house build in 1990) and our fireplace cladding wall is made of brick. The Brick was painted / textured over to give an artistic effect and i am unable to figure out what exactly has been done on the wall. Is it colored concrete mixed and brushed on the bricks ? or maybe colored grout ? or colored stucco ? it does not look like colored joint compound (used for texturing walls normally) because of rough very hard texture
I have tried many local experts / painter and no-one seems to be sure what this is and how to re-create!
some expert suggestions would be really helpful .

Welcome to the forums!
Back in the early 70's we did a job where we mixed portland cement with paint and achieved a similar look ..... best I can remember.
Are you needing to repair a portion? duplicate it somewhere else?
