My neighbor asked me if I could paint her fiberglass awnings. I imagine they used to be white at one time, now they are a yellow color and have alot of moss and dirt on them. What kind of primer and paint should be used on fiberglass? Exterior, for sure, but latex? enamel? What color would you think would not fade out, since this faces south west?

I had fiberglass awnings that once had been yellow. I cleaned them with a very strong solution of TSP and scrubbed all the dirt and moss from them. (Protect your arms, face and hands, fiberglass fibers get in your skin) Then I painted with regular house paint. I painted them a bright green but I should have stuck with a yellow. From underneath, you could see all the strokes and tell they used to be yellow. From the outside, they looked beautiful. They were supported by metal frames, I scrubbed those also and painted them white. That was six years ago and they still look great even through Chicago winters.
