Washing Canvas Drop Cloth

I can't seem to find any good advice on how best to clean large canvas drop cloths. I have a couple of 11'x14' canvas drop cloths that are covered in drywall dust, paint and at least one dead mouse. I want to machine wash them at the local laundromat.

Wondering if anyone has experience doing this? What are the best settings? Type of soap? Do I use the dryer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I usually just shake them out well and rotate the new ones for interiors saving the old ones for exterior work.
I've never washed a drop cloth but have heard of other painters doing so. I've also heard of them getting run out of a laundromat for attempting to wash drop cloths.

I drape them over a three rail split-rail fence and use a pressure washer.

I have also unfurled them in the backyard swimming pool

WARNING - you MUST be extremely careful around any tarp, sail or cloth floating in water-
they WILL wrap around you and drag you under the water, you CANNOT swim if you are caught in a sail.
