Damaged stained door post
I have a couple of questions on stain/stain restoration.
1. Attached photo is the worst case. What would be the easiest way to make it look better? I watched a few Restore-A-Finish youtube videos. Would you recommend the same?
2. I have hollow core door panels (stained) my cat scratched to the point of lifting and braking off. I remember seeing thin door skins at Home Depot. Can I just glue it on existing door with wood glue?
Thank you.

Never used it but I can't see how it would hurt to try it. Let us know how it goes.
As for the door skin, I would recommend you use Dap Weldwood. Its a dry powder you mix with water... (follow label directions) roll on with a paint roller... Then immediately apply the door skin and roll with a j-roller. Wipe any excess off the edges with a wet rag asap. (Be sure you put plastic drop cloths down it's nasty stuff.) Once its dry go back and use a palm router to flush trim the skin to the door edges.

Thank you. I went to Home Depot. They had 2.7 mm 4x8 plywood. Both sides clean just like door. Price $11. Is this it? Employees had no idea what door skin was.
