Painting back of drywall
A friend’s garage has the stud framing and drywall from another room exposed. He wants me to spray it but I’ve never painted the brown paper side of drywall/or unfinished (not mudded) drywall.
Will the paint adhere fine/cause the paper to bubble? It will be primed.

Primer and paint will adhere fine to the backside of drywall. Occasionally on new construction a sheet or piece of drywall gets hung backwards. Sometimes it requires a little more mud to make it look perfect but for the most part it's similar to the front side.
What kind of room is on the other side? If it's living space the wall should be insulated and covered with 5/8 drywall [firerock]

The back side will hold paint very well. If you thin your paint it may take it too well and soak it in. Be ready for a second coat if needed. Make sure the previous paint layer is dry before applying subsequent layers so the first coat can seal up the surface and prevent the other coat from soaking in too much.
