OK, ummm didn't catch the name,
first thing we'll need to know is the type of texture. I'm supposing you have a blown-on "popcorn" or "acoustic" ceiling texture??? what you need to do depends on the texture, so please fill in the blanks? All sorts of help is here for you, don't worry about that in the least.

Type of ceiling is probably what you refer to as popcorn. Tks.

OK, it's not the least messy job, but there is a roller you can buy for the project that cuts down on the mess a lot.

Yes, yes, I've used 1 1/2" lambswool, it's a nice tool for a pro to own, but there is a foam roller, typical 9" length that has slits cut in it about every 1/2" along it's length. When loaded with paint, this roller kinda "surrounds" the popcorn and finishes quite nicely. The biggest caveat is that you have to continue working hard and heavy as this roller doesn't hold much paint and YOU HAVE TO KEEP A WET EDGE. It will do the job however. Try it out.
