Need Exterior Paint

I'm a very intermittent painter around the house. So I forget things from the last time. I just cut in a closet. took about 1 hour.,the full length of the bristles (along with some of the handle / my hand : ) get paint on them - painting overhead, the paint in the front of the brush flows down towards the handle?, etc. 1) Would you say that's to be expected? And that paint all around the brush starts drying out. Overall, the brush gets stiffer, I might get a dried / gooey piece of paint at the tip of the brush and I have to pick it off the brush or wall. 2) All that sound unavoidable / expected? 3) Do you get another brush after x minutes typically? I cleaned up this brush and will reuse it once it dries - I'm not tossing them after 1 use. some of the brushes say polyester. several I just got tell me they type of wood of the handle (birch).... but don't tell me the bristle material! But it says it's for oil and latex. And the tips are thinner than farther back 4) It's an operator issue, not wrong bristle material, right? And I think this is the same case with rollers - paint gets on the frame, starts to dry then gets back on the rolller as a gooey piece : ) Do you change rollers after x minutes? THANKS!

I'm not really looking for intentional abuse, unless you really think it's warranted.[/color] [color=#383a3b]Not really sure why it took weeks to paint this room other than me getting distracted on other things, spending too much time trying to fix nail pops (bulges, not actual cracking), putting in a new fan but needing to run always on power to the ceiling box, etc...[/color] [color=#383a3b]But here's some wider shots and close ups of some areas. I only used painters tape on the floor. I painted the ceiling, overpainting to the walls. Painted the walls and overpainted onto the trim. Then painted the trim with just a brush.[/color] [color=#383a3b]The paint was all Sherwin Williams. Emerald on the walls and trim. The walls were pink before, grey now. And the trim was white.[/color] [color=#383a3b]I haven't painted in years but a bunch over time. It's a 50 year old house and 60 year old painter.[/color] [color=#383a3b]Curious what people think, specifically of:[/color] [list] [*]The wall overpaint on the ceiling [*]The trim line on that vertical piece, and along the radiator [*]And after 3? coats of trim paint, I am still seeing grey on the small side of the trim piece. I guess I need to use masking tape to be able to put the paint on heavier on that surface without worrying about getting trim paint on the wall? Is there any advice for trying to do trim by hand AND put it on heavier to cover the other color? [*]There's a shot at a low angle with a flashlight showing patching on a wall. Some I did, some was there. Looking at it straight on, no one would notice. It is what it is? It IS 50 years of use...
