I asked a question a couple days back asking for advice on painting exterior concrete block. Can anyone provide some help here? What I would like to know is what is the best procedure? Waterproof, prime then paint? Or prime only then paint? Thanks for the help.

I'm not an expert on painting concrete block, but he first step would be a thorough cleaning. The block and mortar contain alot of mineral salts which needs to be cleaned off. There are concrete cleaners available but I don't know which is best. A pressure washing would supplement the cleaning.
There may be some paints available that can be applied directly to the concrete. Also, Have you considered having the block covered with a 'thinset' coating. They can be applied in various colors.
