Question New Drywall Priming

What are the recommended steps and the best products to seal and prime newly hung drywall in a basement. I have heard many horror stories about improper preparation leading to the seams bleeding through the finished paint. My understanding is that you first have to seal the drywall with one coat of drywall sealer then prime the wall. I want the best final finish but understand it always is in the prep work and I have no clue.

Prime with the PVA drywall primer. The usual problems experienced with paint on drywall is the absorbtion level of the paper vs. the drywall mud. The PVA primer makes it all uniform.

Another question

Thanks for the reply.

Do you recommend one or two coats and do you still need to use a paint primer? Hate to sound so stupid.

No problem. Save your back and get an extension pole for the roller

My wife has purchased enough painting poles over the year to paint the Pentagon. I guess she is trying to save her back. Maybe she will loan me one (grin).
