Unhappy Paint wipes off with water

I painted my bathroom using an acrylic latex paint and it seems to wipe off the wall with a damp cloth. I'm not sure what the basecoat is because it was here before I moved in but I assume it is waterbased. Is there something I can do so I don't have to start all over again? Maybe a top coat of some sort?

Please help!!
Thanks *smile*

Sure hate to hear this.....

portia25, The things that could cause what is happening would be: existing paint was oil based, something was on the walls that causes your new paint not to bond or poor paint qaulity. I would have to think you had oil paint on the walls. There is nothing you can go over this with to help the new paint stay. If it comes off as easily as you say you are going to have to wipe all of it off. Prime with an oil primer like KILZ Original and paint again. Sorry this is one of those that doesn't have an easy answer....Good luck....Mike
