Help! Clear Varnish Disaster!

The walls in my living room are a dark blue flat paint. I wanted to stripe the walls with a clear shiney stripe - having the effect of a clear stripe, dull stripe, etc. I used a water based clear high gloss varnish for the shiney stripe. I think I used a roller that had too thick of a nap to it and now I have a milky spots throughout my shiney stripe. Where I used a paint brush - it is perfect, just the result I wanted - but where I rolled the high gloss on it is milky and spotted. Is there anything I can do to correct this?? I tried to paint over the milky spotty parts with another coat of the clear high gloss, but it still shows through. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
