Question Help! Appliance Paint?

Have an old, funky large range hood in my new home which works and which I'd like to paint and save (looks like the new expensive industrial guys that sell for $1,000 now!).

I need to paint it and was told to use appliance paint. First, is that correct or would regular heavy-duty spray paint work?

Second, where can I get appliance paint in white or gold? I've only been able to find silver and regular appliance colors (harvest gold, beige, etc.).

Any tips are MOST appreciated. THANKS!

To be honest kiddo...'appliance paint' is basically lacquered-based, meaning it is rather 'hard'...if you didn't need the job to last forever, you could clean the hood with TSP, and spray it (outdoors preferrably) with any enamel. But why not try a local appliance dealer to see if he has a more suitable color?

bekka, Try Sherwin-Williams SuperAcrylic. I think they changed the name of it but ask for superacrylic. If you want white don't buy white. Thier white is really off white. To get white ask for bright white. Go figure on that one. Pay special attention to recoat directions on the can.......Mike
