Ballpark Painting Estimates

For those that have emailed or asked, this is a very general guideline of what it can cost to have a contractor paint your residence (at least here in Canada)...there are so many variables, and obtaining references is very important...so here goes...

Square footage of your home/apartment multiplied by 2.7 roughly equals the total square footage of your paintable wall surfaces...then add your ceilings (total footage of the dwelling)...for walls, divide by 400 (square feet per gallon/per coat coverage) and you'll have a rough idea of total gallons required...then add the ceilings, allowing sometimes double for a textured ceiling...you can also multiply the floor area by 1.8 to find the dollars to paint the dwelling...(ie...2000 sq/ft home multiplied by 1.8 = $3600 job) some guys will charge a flat rate of (let's say) $100/gallon for the job...but the best advice is to always ask your friends and neighbours who they hired, how satisfied they were, how clean was the painter, how was the time frame for the job, how prompt and on-time was her, his references, courtesy and will he come back for touch-ups....I know this is vague and general but as with most contracts, check references and obtain several estimates...the lowest price is most often not the best job, nor the priciest...remember, you control the job, whether he buys the paint, or yourself...time frame, prep work, clean-up afterwards...good luck in your renovations friends.

I hope someone actually knows how to paint a Ball Park and provide an estimate for the Yankees too, 'cause I'd have no real answer for Mr Stienbrenner.
