Painting Wood Paneling?

Is it possible to paint wood paneling? What kinda prep work would I need to do if so? If anyone knows please lend me the info on how to do it. Thanx so much.

If it's the veneered panelling, a good wash with TSP, rinse and dry...prime with Bullseye 1-2-3, Aqua Lock, CIL Problem Solver or other good high adhesion acrylic primers...allow to dry 24 hours, then paint. If solid wood and varnish, a light sanding for esthetics wouldn't hurt as well, then wash and prime. If you're a fan of oils, those primers will work too, but those acrylics above stick like stink to a monkey.

wood paneling

for my wood panelled walls, I lightly sanded and then used a very small amount of drywall compound to fill the grooves between the panels. Another sanding, primer, paint and you cannot tell that there is wood panelling under the paint at all...
