i want to cover my panelling

i want to cover ugly dark panelling. i heard of a trick to cover the panelling with brown wrapping paper coated with a pollyurthane mix. then paint it. was told this will seal the lines in panelling and create a textured wallpaper look. has anyone ever haerd of this?

painting panelling

Start by sanding your panelling then run caulk down the seams makeing shure you smooth it out with your finger. Then use a good oil base primer I like kills no stains will bleed through. Then put you two coats of latex paint over it. Hope this will help
