Preparing for painting

I am about to do some interior painting for the first time and I had no idea how many different masking tapes are out there. Some people have suggested using blue tape, but that is so much more expensive, is it really worth it?

I just tried the 3M blue painter's tape and was thrilled! I have never had such a clean edge before. I waited until about 40 mins after applying the 2nd coat to remove it.

The tape pulled of completely clean and left a perfect edge.
I did really press down the side closest to the edge with my nail as I applied it. But I've done that with regular light masking tape that they used to use for painting and it never worked that well.

I would also suggest investing in the 2" tape. It does cost more but there are quite a few areas that would have accidently been ruined if I'd used the narrower tape.

Hope this helps!

Painter's tape

Avoid the masking tape and use painter's tape. Painter's tape won't pull paint from the walls or leave a residue like masking tape.
