Sheathing

Hello,

I am in the process of re-siding my house
and wanted to ask a question. I know in
California sheathing is not required but
recommended under siding. Can anybody
recommend a type or manufacturer of
Sheathing to go under siding?

Thanks,
Mike

Exterior Sheathing
Exterior sheathing is applied to the exterior of the stud wall before the exterior finish is attached. Exterior sheathing can be blackjack, plywood, Orient Stranded Board (OSB) or any of the foam (extruded or expanded polystyrene, polyurethane, or Styrofoam) boards available on the market. Foam boards achieve higher R-Values in the wall section. BUILDING AN EFFICIENT HOME. LES. Retrieved 04 August 2002.

Mike,

Im remodeling a bathroom and noticed that my home doesnt have sheathing under the siding, and can see light in some areas between the siding when I pulled the plaster walls from inside the bathroom. I did plan to replace some of the siding that is rotting, but now Im deciding whether or not to pull off all the siding and install sheathing and put up new siding.

I would be interested in your progress and detail of your project as I too, am in San Jose.

thanks, chris
