Wooden Ceiling

I'm putting up 12' long x 7" wide pine boards on the kitchen ceiling. How would I go about getting a "square" line to start the first board on? This is a handyman special house and there's not much square in it. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

what is the different across the width of the room , have you measured it yet , if not to far off you can work it out by riping the first board you put up with a tapered cut, you mite also take the width and divide it by 7in. to see what you will end up with on the last board you put up ,if it matters to you , you mite want to start out with a eual number on the first board to match the last board , hopes this helps , if not scrap this post

Yes, that does help. Thanks for the advice! Now all I have to do is pray that that part of this ol' house is square!
