I am building a cabinet/shelving unit that is cylindrical in shape. The sections vary in radius from 11-17". I was planning to use 1/8" plywood for the outside of the unit but have now considered 1/8" MDF. Is MDF flexible enough to make such a bend without breaking? Is there a particular technique to use? Is it significantly heavier than plywood?

I would probably use LUAN board. It is nice looking, bends, strong etc.
