We are considering covering our existing T-11 wood siding with vinyl siding. Much of our wood has required repainting often due to exposure to weather (rain & sun). Also, on one of our outbuildings the side facing north has mold and lichens from the surrounding oak trees. Since the areas receiving the most damage are very high and difficult to access we want something that requires less maintenance than wood with paint. We are in the foothills (elevation 500')of No. Calif. We are "growing zone 9" so we don't have extreme winters. Would like to hear from homeowners/experts who have long term experience with the pros & cons of vinyl siding. We are considering using the siding that has the styrofoam inside the contours of the siding.

You would like that siding, it is nice. It definetly is not a DIY job. Vinyl siding needs to be installed just right or it get wavey on you or worst yet buckel. It is durable, will last for years, never needs painting. reasonable priced. Good Luck.
