This is a dumb question, I need to get the dimensions of finished lumber. i.e.-a 2x4 is really 1 3/4 x ? Thanks.

All finished 2X is approx. 1.5" thick. Subtract .5" from stated width, i.e. 2X4= 1.5" X 3.5", 2X6= 1.5" X 5.5", etc. This may vary slightly, however, especially the width.
Most lumber is sold in 2' length increments, also which is not exact due to swelling and shrinking from moisture.
Always measure twice, cut once. Good Luck!

An 8' board is usually 96", but a 16' board is usually 16' 3/4". Most longer boards are at least 3/4" longer

2x6 is usually 5 1/2" except for treated lumber which may vary up to an 1/8".

2x8 is about 7 1/4"

2x10 is about 9 1/4"

2x12 is about 11 1/8 to 1/4
