can you texture a panelled wall?

Any suggestions for covering paneling other than paint. Is there a product that will work well enough to texture a panelled wall. Looking for an easier way than drywall to change the tell-tale paneling look.

Thanks in advance for any help

The texture would not necessarily hide the grooves. You could use bridging material, a wall paper product, to cover the panel and hide the grooves, then texture on top of that.

Thanks, that's kind of what I thought. A nutty friend recommended mudding the grooves, roughly smoothing them and then texturing the walls. (Might work, but very labor intensive)
Thoughts?

Thanks for the replying to my earlier question.

Reports that I have heard about filling the grooves are mixed. You are right, it is labor-intensive. From what I hear of the bridging material, it will provide a stable surface over which to apply texture.
