Question Vinyl Siding

I'm planing on installing vinyl siding on my home. This home is covered with a hard concrete type of single. When using a hammer and nail the singles break. to avoid this problem i need to use a air nailer. What type of nailer should I buy.

They are most likely asbestos shingles....it was a popular siding in the 50-60s.

To install siding over them, I use the fold out foam board to help hold the shingles in place as you nail thru them.....they still break and some pcs slide down behind the foam, but not as bad.

HOW were you planning on using an air nailer ????? You DO know you can't nail vinyl siding tight, right ? I've seen some people use a WIDE crown stapler, turn it sideways and set the pressure low....but I still think it's just easier to use a long roofing nail.....like 1 3/4". I can't think of any air nailer that will work on that type of shingle.

OH yeah........DON'T take them off......if you do that here, you have to pay to send them to a special hazard dumpsite......$$$$$$$$$
