crown moulding on warped walls

I held a small piece of crown moulding up agains my wall to see how beautiful it will look and realized that my walls are not flat. I mean VERY warped. And so is the ceiling as well. It's not enough to see just looking at it but when you place the straight edge of the moulding you have to really force the wood to lay flat with the wall and the force it to get it flat with the ceiling and it's still not perfect. I know this will also throw off my cope'd. I was thinking about using a chalk line or a laser line and just securing it to the wall tight and dealing with the gap at the ceiling using caulk. Do you think it will show how warped the ceiling it by doing this? Any suggestions?

It is worth a try. If it is unmanageable, then you could take it down.
