Post Attaching 4x8 beadboard paneling to ceiling

Trying to attach 4x8 1/4' thick beadboard paneling to a ceiling in our laundry room. Will be attaching the paneling to the existing drywall into the joists. Would like to avoid using adhesive and rely on paneling nails approximately every 12' along the joists. My question is will this method work and keep the beadboard paneling adequately anchored to the ceiling? Any hints/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The panels will be only as flat as the ceiling is currently. You will need a nail 2.25 inches at least. Be sure the panels acclimate to the room before hanging them. Sagging would not be pretty. Finish them before installing them.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Chris. I already have the beadboard laid out getting acclimated to the humidity in the space and will use the length of nails you recommend. Have a great day!
