Help in removing ugly vinyl baseboard

The condo I bought has ugly, vinyl baseboard trim running throughout the place. In some places it is on top of brick, in others it's on sheetrock. How do I take this eyesore off without causing myself more grief by destroying the sheetrock? I think the trim was glued on with some kind of adhesive. I'd really appreciate any help you guys can give this novice fixit girl.

Thanks, paimomona

You are correct in that it is glued on. You can peel it off, working the glue off with a stiff putty knife. It may peel off some of the surface of the sheetrock, but that matters little and can be repaired easily if need be. The tricky part may be to get all the glue off of the brick. You may be able to scrape it off with the putty knife.

Hope this helps.
