Laminate/Melanine Paneling in Bathroom

Hello,
I purchased what was probably once a Summer Cottage converted to a Year Round Home. The paneling in the bathroom is an awful yellowish laminate
paneling with what looks like chrome trim attaching the panels together. Some of the panels have holes drilled in them. As much as I would like to rip out the bathroom walls and start anew this is not an option right now. Any suggestions on refinishing these walls?
Thanks!
Beth

Hi
sound like barker board was used.
You might try drywall over the suds and paint it
or used barker board to redo it.
cheers
