finish nail distance for trim molding

Hi,

I just finished installing pergo laminate floor. Now I need to cover the 1/4" spacing at the end with pergo 1/4 round molding. I am planning to use 4d finish nail for this purpose. I don't own a brad nailed, so I guess hammering is my option. I have no experience in this area. My question is how far these finish nail need to be from each other ?

Can spring loaded 'Arrow Stapler' (with brad nail) be used as brad nailer ?
Any suggestion is appreciated.

Thanks

If you plan on doing more work that a brad nailer would be used, I highly recommend you spend the hundred bucks on one.

If nailing it by hand is your only option, I would put a nail about every 24" and no closer than 3" to any end. If you need more nails than every 24" to keep it against the wall, then so be it. You'll need to pre-drill a hole a tad smaller than the diameter of the nail. Hit the nail til it's about 1/8" away or a hair closer, and recess it with a nail set. Go back over it with a wax stick to cover the hole and wipe off excess with mineral spirts/paint thinner. "Same thing"
