Need help with removing wood panel and adhesive.
We have cedar strips in our landing and the stair area. I started to remove them and they are glued on. The glue is black so I am not sure what kind it is. I used a chisel and hammer to remove some of the wood, but where the adhesive is splinters are sticking. Is there anyway to remove the adhesive once I remove as much wood as I can. Also is there an easier way to remove the wood strips? They are glued to the drywall that looks to be textured already. I am hoping that I will be left with just touch up work on the wall.
Thanks for any input.

hi
Just scrapped it off and the skim the drywall
Meanning put a coat of mus over the drywall to hide the marks from the scrappe off glue.
Or cover the drywall with a 1/4 in drywall
good luck

HI, I agree with pg, take off all the wood you can. Take out the high spots of glue adhesive. I believe also that recovering with new drywall is the easiest and quickest.

This is just a thought as I have no experience with covering wood strips....
If the wood strips are fairly flat, why not just nail the 1/4" drywall over top without removing the strips? It would save a whole lot of work, if your're going to cover the wall with drywall anyway.
