Installing Baseboard into Metal Studs

Hi Everyone,

I am doing some remodeling in our apartment style condo and have run into a situation while installing baseboards. It seems the studs in the wall are not wood, instead they are metal. I obviously cannot hammer the nails through the drywall into the metal studs. I am wondering what the alternatives are. Any thoughts?

Thanks.

I'm suprised they didn't install 1/2" osb or some sort of backing for the baseboard to nail to. What was there before? Vinyl cove moulding?

You can use trim head finish screws such as these: http://************/9yzu2. They are self drilling and will go through the wood base and into the metal studs.

Thanks

It was Vinyl moulding glued to the wall before. I will try those screws and see what happens. Thanks!

You can usually use construction adhesive and drive nails in at opposing angles with a trim nailer into the drywall.

Recently I saw something about nails that are made to hold in metal studs but cannot find it right now, but they might be an option also.
