How to paint extension jambs and windows

I know this might seem better in a different board, but it just seems like this is about moldings to me...

I have wood anderson windows. I always do my moldings white. Am I supposed to paint my andersoon windows and extension jambs white?

The window mullions, jambs and casing are usually all painted the same but.... there are times when color schemes will call for the window sash to be different color than the trim.

I once painted a house where the decorator specified 5 different colors on each of the exterior windows You should paint them what ever color you and yours prefer.

so the traditional or common way is that everything is the same color (except the glass)?
