Making my own trim, tips?

My father bought some smooth mdf, I think it was MDF. Anyway he cut it into strips and rounded off 1 side with a router and built his own trim. Its a very simple looking trim but looks store bought none the less. So I'd like to do the same but get a little more creative with the design. Can anyone recommend a good book or website to get me started?

trims

I guess start by getting a set of router bits, just with the variety the possibilities are endless. It does not have to be high end like FREUD, since you'll be using MDF.If not you might want to get multi-profile bit. The design can be changed by raising or lowering the height of your router or moving your fence. You can check out www.leevalley.com for bits(it's in canada)
check out http://www.alexmo.com/ for trim ideas
good luck
