fake trim

the trim in my house is this fake wood. it looks like some sort of sticker material, that has the wood grain look to, was placed over some cheap board. it looks really cheap. i cant afford to replace it all with real wood trim. i was wanting to just paint it. i read somewhere, in order to paint this sticker material i would need to use epoxy paint. i found out epoxy paint, is the paint used on garage floors. i was wondering if epoxy paint would be a good paint to use for painting my cheap trim to give it a bit nicer look? if it is an ok paint to use how can i find or mix a specific color i want?

Welcome to the forums

I doubt there is any need to use epoxy. Prime it with Zinnsers BIN [pigmented shellac primer - extra stinky ] You can then top coat it with latex, oil base or waterborne enamel.
