sticky caulk residue
All around the top of my quarter-round molding is a dirty, sticky line where apparently some kind of caulk was used to fill the gap. The problem is it stays sticky and dust/lint catches there very easily. I have tried solvents (CitraSolv, Goof Off) but when I wipe gently it just takes off the dirt (but stays sticky), and if I scrub harder the paint comes off along with the caulk. Does anyone know what this is or have any tips for removing it? It seems like it must have been a mistake to use this product - the house was repainted just before we bought it last year and that is when it was caulked.
Thanks

Welcome to the forums!
The problem is the caulk was never painted over and that is really the only good solution. Caulking is only flexable while it is still tacky or wet, unpainted it will attract dirt.
