New Homeowner wants to put up Beadboard

We just bought a house and we want to put up beadboard in a few rooms. We really like the look of the higher beadboard (somewhere between 1/2 & 3/4 way up the wall). We are not handy but willing to learn and try this on our own. Are we getting in way over our heads or is this a project that is doable with two rookies?

Beadboard

Suzball,

Its doable if your willing to purchase a few tools, read up and have patience.

There are beadboard plywood products as well s traditional beaded tongue and groove boards out there.

Good luck on your project!

If you want genuine beadboard as a wainscoting I have removed all the sheetrock from the line where the bead board was to stop downward. Installed blocking across the top of the area, under the sheetrock and protruding down into the open area. Then installed the beadboard vertically and installed a flat chair rail at the joint. You don't have the protrusion of the lower panels giving it a flat look. The blocking gives a good nailing point for the bead board and the chair rail. Just a suggestion.
